Product Manager

The Product Manager oversees product visions, initiatives, and associated projects by identifying potential feature needs. This includes conducting market research, generating product requirements, and determining specifications, development timetables, and time-integrated plans for introduction. This individual will also assist in developing marketing strategies by maintaining consistent educational best practices in the overall vision of the design. The Product Manager reports to the Chief Technology Officer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:


TECHNICAL/PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Assesses market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products

PRODUCTIVITY

  • Prioritizes and coordinates timelines for development based on current customer needs, new customer demand, market research, and school year constraints
  • Works alongside Training, Support, Account Management, Marketing, and Leadership teams to successfully determine product needs

COMMUNICATION

  • Integrates with the product engineers’ everyday work as individual features are developed during all stages of production
  • Communicates directly with customers to get direct user feedback
  • Provides source data for product communications to marketing by defining the product story and purpose as it relates to educational best practices
  • Maintains open lines of communication with internal stakeholder teams, especially as it relates to Initiatives and product development status

LEADERSHIP

  • Instills project ownership within the Engineering team by ensuring all members understand the scope and initiatives of the product
  • Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines (Initiatives) by sculpting product specifications and requirements; appraising new product ideas and/or product changes
  • Participates with company Leadership in developing and meeting company Strategy, Vision, and Goals

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Is a thought leader in K-12 education
  • Experience in campus instructional leadership (ex. Principal, Instructional Coach) or equivalent district instructional leadership
  • Preferred background in Curriculum Design, Scope and Sequence, and Instructional Best Practices
  • Comfortable with the Data Analysis components of Pedagogical Cycles
  • Preference given to those in the Austin Area or willing to relocate
  • Possesses a solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience with educational technology
  • Has passion for improving technology tools for educators
  • Ability to develop product and marketing strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management
  • Strong problem solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with remote teams and customers
  • Previous experience in education: teaching, working in EdTech, or familiarity with the education industry
